On 31st August, we held a round robin competition at Moss Farm, Northwich. This event was a fundraiser for Beyond Recovery, which is a charity supporting the physical and mental health and wellbeing of brain tumour survivors, through the provision of outdoor and nature-based activities and therapies. Inspiring and empowering individuals to move forward “beyond recovery”.
One of our players, Louise, is taking part in a trek across the Sahara to raise money for this charity, which has supported her recovery and we held this fun day to raise further funds. There were stalls selling cakes, gifts and cards and a very popular tombola stall. In total, we raised £477.07. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
There were five mixed teams taking part, each team played every other team twice – that was eight 9 minute games, with one team sitting out every round. The weather was mixed, ranging from glorious sunshine to torrential rain, but it couldn’t dampen the players’ spirits.
It was a very close competition, with 3rd and 4th places tied and 1st and 2nd on the same points, the final positions were determined by number of goals scored. By one goal, Oranges took the top spot, from Greens in second. A huge Thank you to Bob and Simon for their excellent refereeing and for everyone who was involved in organising the day, it was a great success.
