Organisation

1874 Northwich Walking Football is part of Northwich Community Football Club (1874 Northwich FC) but it has its own set
of rules, outlining how the walking football club operates. The day to day running of matches, training and social events is done by two committees, one for the men’s section and one for the women’s section. These are the people most players will know and interact with.

There are a number of activities common to both groups and so we have a “Steering Group” which sits above the two committees. The Steering Group has two main types of responsibility, those activities that are central to the club, so apply equally to both the men’s and women’s sections, and those activities that are needed in the case of a dispute, or when a change is suggested about how the club should be run.

Central activities include:

  • management of finances
  • management of the membership register
  • rules – both of the club and on the pitch
  • player welfare / health and safety
  • affiliation & insurance
  • website
  • interfaces with 1874 Northwich FC, Cheshire FA and the WFA

Activities associated with dealing with disputes include:

  • the steering group is the first point of call for appeals against the decisions made by the
    committees
  • similarly it deals with discipline issues that can’t be resolved by the committees
  • it is a safety net making sure that major decisions altering our rules are agreed by the members.
