Congratulations to Ali Rigby, who has recently returned from Gloucester having played in the WFA / AXA Women’s Super League Regional Competition at the University of Gloucester.
The WFA Super League is the name given to the WFA Regional Tournament – the aim is to showcase the best Walking Football in England. Regions hold trials and select teams at each age group. They get together and play against each other 3 times a year. Current England players are encouraged to play for their region so It allows the best players in the country to play with and against the best players in the country.
The WFA Super League is the WFA’s pathway to the WFA England teams – it also gives many players the opportunity to play representative sport at the highest level many will have achieved.
Ali is part of the North of England regional team in the over 60’s age group. The tournament this weekend was the last of 3 sessions throughout the year. In the most recent round of matches, the North of England had 2 wins and 3 draws.
The North of England clinched the overall title on goal difference (by one goal!!) – and are the 2025 over 60s champions.
Congratulations Ali, it is a fantastic achievement and so well deserved.
