The latest season of the Cheshire FA Women’s walking football league kicked off at Moss Farm on a wet and dreary Sunday morning on 19th October. There are eight teams taking part this season, with newcomers Coedpoeth Dragonesses and Runcorn Saxons FC – Gangums joining the six teams that were involved in the inaugural league which took place earlier in 2025.
1874 Northwich fielded two teams, Danes and Weavers. It was a day of mixed fortunes for our teams, who both won two of their five matches, whilst losing the remaining three. As a result they sit in 5th and 6th positions, with Danes just ahead, alphabetically! The day also marked the debuts of three of our players, Mel, Kelly and Nicola, who all turned out for the Weavers and Kelly scored her first League goal.
The competition has moved on since our first excursions into competitive football and the standard of the opposition has also moved on considerably, with every match a tight affair. Egerton Amazons are currently top of the league, having won all five of their matches.
