In Spring 2025, the women’s section applied to the Co-op to be one of three organisations that were seeking support from Co-op members via the Local Community Fund.
The Co-op’s explanation of the fund is as follows:
At Co-op we put our profits where they belong, back into local communities. As a Co-op Member and owner, you get to choose a cause that’s close to your heart and they’ll get a share of our Local Community Fund.
You can choose a cause any time until October. After that, we’ll share out the fund between all our local causes. The total amount each cause gets depends on how many members have chosen them.
An initial payment of £500 was received when we were selected for the 2025 round of funding. This meant that Co-op members had the chance to select us as their local cause so that we can continue to encourage and support older ladies to participate in a safe outdoor team sport by funding new kit and equipment.
We are delighted to confirm that following support from local Co-op members, the section received a further £1191.22 in October 2025. We want to thank the Co-op and everyone who voted for us. Thank You.
