The May Bank holiday sees two teams from the women’s walking football section head off south to take part in the Ashbury Tournament just outside Okehampton in Devon. The tournament (hosted by Dawlish Swans) has grown in popularity over the past few years, with teams from all over the country taking part in either the over 40 or over 55 competition. 24 teams are competing in the over 40s tournament, with six groups of four teams. 1874 are in group F with Liverpool Feds, Cwmbran and Exeter City.
The over 55 competition is smaller, with just 16 teams, again in 4 groups. 1874 are in group B along with Pennydarren, Bournemouth and Dawlish.
All the matches are on Saturday 2nd May, over 55s in the morning and over 40s in the afternoon.
The tournament takes place at the Ashbury Hotel, which not only has its own golf course, but offers a wide range of activities, plans are already in place for archery, air rifle shooting, pickle ball, padel and various social events.
