Sunday 22nd March 2026 saw the fifth round of the Women’s 40+ league and for once it wasn’t raining!!
Moss Farm is the home of 1874 Northwich Walking Football, and so, unlike the other teams, we don’t have to travel across Cheshire / Wales to play in the competition. The 1874 players decided to offer refreshments and some 80’s tunes to provide a welcome to Northwich and to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity close to several people’s hearts.

On the field, both our teams performed well. Whilst Danes are still struggling to find the back of the net, their strong defence resulted in three draws from the five matches. The two losses were against the teams sitting first and second in the League, so overall it was a solid performance. They continue to lie in 7th place in the table.
Weavers retained their place in second, now only three points behind the league leaders, Egerton Amazons. Working on the principle that the best form of defence is attack, Weavers scored six goals over their five games, winning four out of five and drawing the fifth. Goalkeeper Nicola, ably supported by Mel, (who was voted Weaver’s star player for the tournament) nearly kept a clean sheet, only conceding the one goal in the last game.
